net zero

Construction: A Major Polluter

“The building industry causes 14 gigatonnes of greenhouse gas emissions every year, accounting for 38% of total global emissions. This needs to be reduced by half by 2030 and to zero by 2050 to achieve the goals of the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aims to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels” (World Economic Forum – July 2021).

Collaboration to Achieve Net Zero

The construction industry needs to adopt a clear definition of what net-zero carbon emission means. We can only achieve net-zero if everyone in the value chain collaborates and focuses on whole-life carbon emission reductions by adopting whole-life carbon assessments and setting clear targets. We must engage in higher levels of data sharing, collaboration, and transparency in order to achieve the decarbonization that the world demands.

Transparency

Gwer Delen plans to incorporate all transactions onto the blockchain in order to provide complete transparency. Doing so will lead the way in sustainable building standards and help support the production of a gold standard of environmentally friendly building materials and completed builds.
